In May 2015, SWI held its second annual symposium at ASMCUE in Austin, TX. At the end of every semester, SWI students present their research project as part of an outreach effort to educate the public about microbes and antibiotic resistance and to showcase their findings. At the end of spring, we invite the professors and one or two dedicated students to gather with the greater SWI community at the symposium and participate in our tradition of sharing results like true scientists, practicing science communication, and discussing ways we can improve and expand our program and how we impact the world over the next year.
